The Creative Process of Antonio Natale

The creative process of Antonio Natale is built around three major pillers :

  • Antonio is the only known and recognized artist worldwide who paints exclusively on out of circulation banknotes from the world over. He uses banknotes that have lost their trade value, and transforms them into artworks; thus, changing, not only their meaning but also giving them a new identity and a brand new destiny. He also gathers the people of the world represented by his supports under one same banner of Art and invites the beholder to travel in space and in different eras of History.
  • Antonio Natale is an active artist who does not fear expressing himself through his paintings and to point at the injustices of the world. Each banknote has a story to tell. Antonio gives voice to their stories and becomes the cries of the oppressed, the defender of widows and orphans, of the forgotten victims of wars, and exposes in this manner a reality that is hidden from us. He invites the beholder to reflect and introspect though each painting he creates.
  • It is the banknotes’ stories that Antonio tells. It is the first time in the History of Art, that a painting is not a mere reflection of the artist, but that the artist becomes the tool and vector of the messages of his own supports. In order to show this collaboration with his supports, Antonio integrates their details in in his compositions, in a subtle and magic manner, and creates windows behind each painting to invite light to shine trough them, revealing not only their astonishing beauty but transforming them into marvelous kaleidoscopes of a thousand colors, such as enchanted stain-glass windows of cathedrals.
